Description
The primary function of Sunshine Blue Dye is not to permanently dye clothing blue, but to restore and brighten white and blue fabrics that have yellowed or faded over time.
Key Function (Colour Correction)
Whitening Agent: White fabrics, over time, develop a slight yellowish or grayish tint due to repeated washing and mineral buildup. Since blue and yellow are complementary colors, adding a minute amount of blue pigment to the wash water neutralizes the yellow tint.
Result: The slight addition of blue pigment makes the human eye perceive the fabric as brighter and whiter.
Color Restoration: It is also used to deepen the color and prevent fading in blue fabrics, such as denim or light blue clothing.
Product Form and Usage
Form: Typically sold as a highly concentrated, fine powder (Ultramarine Blue) in small sachets or jars (30\text{g} is a common size).
Application: It must always be diluted in cold water before use. It is never applied directly to the clothes, as this can cause permanent, dark blue stains.
Process: After washing and rinsing clothes, a small amount of the diluted solution is added to the final rinse water. Clothes are submerged briefly, gently squeezed, and then spread to dry.
Other Notable Uses
In addition to laundry, this type of Ultramarine Blue powder is sometimes used for traditional or spiritual purposes in various practices:
Spiritual Cleansing: It is often incorporated into spiritual baths (baño aro) and rituals for cleansing, luck, and drawing positive spiritual energy.
